Website delivery and security
This website is delivered through Cloudflare Workers and Cloudflare Static Assets. Cloudflare processes technical connection data required for delivery, stability and abuse protection, including IP addresses, requested URLs, timestamps and connection information. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR and the legitimate interest in secure and reliable website delivery. The website itself does not persistently store form content. Cloudflare's current data processing terms form part of the contractual relationship and, for restricted international transfers, provide the applicable safeguards including Standard Contractual Clauses where required. See Cloudflare Privacy Policy and Cloudflare DPA.
Contact form
When you use the contact form, your name, email address, selected reason, message and language are processed to receive and answer your inquiry. Article 6(1)(b) GDPR applies to contractual or pre-contractual inquiries; otherwise Article 6(1)(f) GDPR applies to the legitimate interest in handling incoming correspondence. Delivery is handled through Brevo to the author's mailbox. The website does not persistently store form submissions. Brevo transactional email logs are configured for one month and email previews are not stored. Messages in the author's mailbox are kept only for as long as needed to handle the inquiry or comply with statutory obligations.
Newsletter
For newsletter signup, the email address, language, a consent version and the time the consent request was made are sent to Brevo. The legal basis is your consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR. Subscription uses double opt-in: the contact is added to the appropriate language list only after the confirmation link is clicked. The data is used for author updates, new books, essays and publication notes. Every marketing newsletter provides an unsubscribe option. After an unsubscribe, Brevo suppresses the address from further marketing email; a suppression or consent record may remain so the opt-out can be respected and, where necessary, demonstrated. A later re-subscription requires a new double-opt-in confirmation. Consent can be withdrawn at any time with effect for the future.
Brevo
Brevo is used for contact delivery and newsletters. Brevo processes the submitted data as a processor under the Data Processing Agreement incorporated into Brevo's Terms of Service. According to Brevo's current documentation, the hosting servers used for Brevo databases are located within the European Union; Brevo identifies OVH in France and Germany and Google Cloud in Belgium. Brevo may use additional processors and group companies in providing the service. The current Brevo contractual terms govern those arrangements; where a restricted transfer to a third country occurs, the transfer mechanisms and safeguards specified there apply. See Brevo Privacy Policy and Brevo Terms of Service and DPA.
Email tracking
Brevo is configured to use anonymous open and click tracking for both marketing and transactional email. Opens and clicks may therefore be counted statistically but are not linked to a specific contact. Global UTM tracking is disabled. Brevo website tracking is not enabled and no Brevo tracking script is embedded on this website.
External links
Amazon and public profiles are ordinary links. Connections to third-party sites occur only when you open those links. No social content is embedded, no Amazon prices are fetched automatically and no affiliate trackers run on this website.
Fonts, media, analytics and cookies
Fonts, images and covers are served locally through the website host. No visitor analytics such as Google Analytics, Matomo, Plausible or Cloudflare Web Analytics are used at launch. The website uses no advertising pixels, nonessential tracking cookies or browser storage for tracking. A separate cookie consent layer is therefore not displayed while this technical setup remains unchanged.
Your rights
Subject to statutory requirements you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection. Consent can be withdrawn prospectively. You may complain to a supervisory authority, including the authority for North Rhine-Westphalia: ldi.nrw.de. Contact: author@maajoul.com
